  • My New Mercury 250

I just bought a 19 Ft Triton. I rigged it myself, and I thought the boat was rated for this motor. I am having difficulties now because of the weight of the motor. Is there anything I can do to keep this motor on the back of my boat or do I need to just get a new smaller motor? I have heard that if I weight the front more and add trim tabs that this will work.

The trim tabs would help lift the stern of boat, but it force the bow down, You would probably get more out of your boat with a smaller motor

Check the weight regulation plate inside your boat. It will tell you what HP is the max on your boat. If you put anything over that on it, you can be held liable if you get involved in any little "situation" on the water.
