  • Difference between 35 and 40 hp carburetor

    I have a 1989 35 mercury SN 0C145285 (per Mercury, this is a 1989 engine)and need a new carburetor.

Bottom of mounting flange - 1B3 XK
Bottom Float Bowl - 1-1/4 WMK 1368-5676, and a “T” in the middle of the bowl
Float Bowl Cover- 1395-5677 with xk in a circle, and a 2 in the middle of the cover
    Front Float Bowl - 38 1-0567 38-1 2958

1.) Which of these numbers is the carburetor part number?
2.) Do all of the above numbers have to be the same on another carburetor in order for it to work on my boat.
3.) There is a carb with #1368-5676 from a 40hp available. Most of the numbers are identical to my carb. Will this one work?

    Thanks,
    Ray

Part number for carb for your engine is 7226A19 but is listed as no longer available. Not sure the difference on the 40hp carb, I'm sure the jets would be different.

      Thanks

      Thanks.

I just talked to Mercury and they gave me the same part number. I can see a few available on the internet and will get one ordered. I also found out that the 1368 number is a classification for carburetor.
