Mercury gear shift adjustments

I have the quicksilver throttle/gear shift with the round black button on the side of the gear box that allows it to be put in neutral and give the motor gas.
My question is this.
Can this shifter be tightened up? It is really loose with way to much play in the throttle handle? Can these shifters be tightened out

On the bottom of the handle you will find a allen set screw I believe it's 5/32". Wiggle the handle as you tighten it up.
