  • 2006 4 stroke 9.9 Mercury Idle problem

Hi there. I can not get my motor to run on idle. It will run at higher rpm but stalls at idle speed. I replaced the gas tank primer, engine primer bulb, fuel lines, cleaned out the carb with carb cleaner and compressed air and no luck. I even used some carb cleaner additive in my fresh gas.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm very close to biting the bullet and frustration and buying a new carb.

Carb soak not a squirt can job!

The idle circuit on that carb plugs up easily. You must remove all plastic and rubber parts and soak it for hours in a strong carb cleaner $20 or more, looks like a gallon can. Any auto store has it, I used to use a gunk product but I don't know if they still make it.
