  • Optimax T-Stat Hoses?

My twin 2001 Optis have each have a hose that runs between the t-stats. When I look at the drawings it looks like they should go to fittings at the bottom of the exhaust. Should I try and install these fitting or is the hose loop ok?

    Ser # are 0T274141 and 0T274461

    Thanks

The 2000 and 2001 optimax is set up as yours. In 2002 they started running 2 separate hoses from the t stats down to the exhaust leg area. Some times the earlier models with the 1 hose setup have a tendancy to overheat. Running the 2 separate lines corrects that. There is a kit available to reroute these earlier models adding separate hoses. Unless you are having an overheat problem dont worry about it.

      Thanks for the info.

The Starboard engine needs the hose replaced so I might as well look into the kit. Any idea how much work is involved and where to get the kit?

Are the tappings there or will I need to drill and tap?

Crowley has the kit, 884236A1, cost about $75. Includes tubes and popit valve. You will need to drill and tap. I recently bought the kit but have not yet installed it.
