Classic 50/45 hp Electrical Problems

I have a 1986 Mercury Classic 50, it is 45 hp, 4 cylinder, electric start. The botton 2 spark plugs were not firing. I replaced the trigger switch, that didn't help. I replaced the stator and it made it worse, now it tries to turn over but doesn't. Can anyone give me any ideas to what is wrong now? Did I not do something wrong when I replaced the stator?

Careful trouble shooting is always cheaper than parts changing. Buy a manual and the correct DVA meter or cd-77 meter and test the outputs and inputs of each component. Good luck and keep posting.
