Mercury serial number

I'm trying to buy parts for a 1988 115 inline 6 cyl. mercury . The serial number is 0A996105 . Boats.net doesn't recognize that number , all it shows are 7 numbers starting with 5 , 6 , 7 or 8 , no letters when looking for parts . Anybody know what I'm doing wrong ? Thanks for any help , Bill
