  • 40 HP Mercury tilt unit

My unit is "drifting" during operation and is confirmed by pushing down on the lower unit while trailered.
There is a small pin/keeper holding the rod-end wrist pin.
How do you remove the pin/keeper? The rest of dis assembly is pretty easy.
I'll get into the repair of cylinder and hydraulic unit later....oil is blowing by relief/check or seals in the cylinder.

Some of the 40hp used snap rings, use snap ring pliers to remove and others used a roll pin drive it out with a punch.

My fault for not including more details.....pin(alloy of low iron content)is in a blind hole so I just pryed with a screwdriver that I ground a small rounded indent in the end. Thanks for the reply.

Now I'm into the cylinder unit and it seems like something is pretty crunched up in there, but the pump is okay. The rod end of the cylinder has spanner holes for removal. My spanner was not up to the task, so I'll need a beefier spanner.
