2001 60 HP Bigfoot Wiring Harness "extra wire"

There is a brown wire that goes to temp gauge in console, not sure where you found this wire so it's hard to say.

Hi, I had to remove my powerhead and am not putting it back together. I found a wire and have no idea where it goes. It comes off the wiring harness that comes into the motor. There are several wires coming off this. A blue\white, green\white that goes to the power tilt. Also a black wire and a brown wire. It is the brown wire I cannot figure out where to plug in. I don't recall if it was plugged into anything when I took this apart. It looks oily like it was laying and dirty loose. Can this be a test lead? Any ideas?
