In reverse I hit A submerged log that killed the motor. The motor still runs but it won't shift in or out of gear. Turning the tiller handle it slides over forward neutral reverse. I can shift it in gear manually by lifting up or down on the shift rod. I think it's part of the shift componant but not sure and what to replace.

Probably bent shift shaft in mid section, remove lower unit and see if gearcase shifts ok. If it does then look for bent shaft or damaged linkage on motor and mid section.Regards
