Parts interchange Mariner & Yamaha 2 Hp
I'm looking for a new fuel tank and cap for a Mariner 2Hp. ser. no. 6A1 074465(which is a 2B type 2 Hp motor).
The tank is Mariner part number 9209M or 9209T and Cap is 18857 M.
The tank is no longer available.
This engine was manufactured for Mariner/Mercury by a Japanese company, (it says this on the motor), and I have been told that this company also made engines for Yamaha.
Comparing the diagram of the Mariner 2Hp 2B tank 9209M and cowling assembly, with the diagrams of the Yamaha 2 Hp motors from 1984 to 2002 (2SN,2SK,2SJ,2H,2SG,2F,2SD,2MSHP,2MSHQ,2MSHR,2MSHS ,2MSHT,2MSHV,2MSHW,2MSHX,and 2MSHA), the tank, Yamaha part number 6A1 24110-01-00, appears to be identical, same mountings, same shape. Of course the diagrams are not dimensioned so I can't say for certain.
It appears that the motor sold as Mariner 2Hp is the same, or almost the same as Yamaha 2 Hp.
Can anyone shed any further light on this ?
Therfore my question, given that the Mariner 2Hp tank is not available, can I use the Yamaha 2 Hp tank, which is still available ?
Does anyone know the name and contact for the Japanese manufacturer of the Engine so that I can check with them if these two engines use the same tank ?
Thanks
