Default Need help with 45hp mariner

Hi I am new here. I have been looking for some help with my 45hp mariner. It is on an 86 basstracker. I have had problems with it before. I took it out the other day and it would start but not stay running. It smoked badly. I took the gas out of the tank and it was premixed already. I thought the autoblend system mixed it on the way to the engine. Should it have mixed it and put it back in the tank. Also I was going to remove the autoblend system, but from where I have looked everyone sais that I need to put in some sort of bushing in the engine. From what I see the gas goes into the autoblend mixes and then goes staight to the carbs. Cant I just run the hose from the gas tank to the bulb then to the carbs as long as I mix the gas myself. Thanks

Yes the Autoblend which was a oil reservoir that sat in boat mixed the gas as it came of fuel tank. Remove the Autoblend and mix 50:1 oil ratio in gas tank.
