Mariner 6hp Upgrade Question.

I have recently got my hands on a Mariner 6hp which i beleive is late 1980's having the cowling with red/orange stripes. I got told that it could be upgraded to 10/15hp. The engine does seem to be too big for a 6hp. But all except the engine looks like the 10/15hp including lower units etc...

My question is , can my engine be upgraded to a 9.9/15 hp rating???

Any opinion by anyone, mostly mariner experts would be welcome.
