Default starter wont engage

I have a 1988 Force 85hp... I know not the best but its ok for me ...The repair manual said to test the overheat alarm to touch a screwdriver from the temp sensor to the sparkplug base with the ignition in on position the first time i did that the horn sounded...the second time only a click...when i went to turn the key to start it ...nothing...I replaced ALL the fuses including the blade fuse at the battery still nothing...starter relay solonid?...reset relay? any suggestions would be appreciated

Default Duh...

well at the risk of a little embarassment im answering my own problem so that the rest of you can look just a little bit harder for the obvious.... after replacing ALL the fuses both at the fuse box and any in-lines i found plus tracing and inspecting EVERY line from the starter to the fuse box to the ignition switch and locating the neutral safety switch a thought occured to me *check the shifter lever to see if its fully in neutral* ......ahem....it wasnt lol ...*** how dumb was that? so anyways lesson learned when ya have a "major" problem look for the obvious ..it'll save you ALOT of frustration lol
