I have rebuilt a 1984 28 Suntracker Party Barge.

I finally got the boat out of the water to have some engine work done, ie water pump and some other stuff.

The boat has had a huge amount of spray coming out around the engine and all around the bottom of the cowling.

The engine has sn OE49161.

It appears like the mounting plate has been home made?

Any how I am trying to find out if the shaft length on this engine is for a pontoon or not.

Do you think raising the engine on the mounting would help with the huge amount of spray.

From the water surface to the c/l of the drive shaft is 25"

Check the measurement from the top of the motor mount to the waterline when the boat is on plane. the distance will tell if the boat is setup for a long shaft or short shaft motor. Sounds like it is set for a short shaft and you have a long shaft on it.
