Default Thermostat

I recently purchased a thermostat (part 99155A 1). I cant remember exactly how the thermostat should fit back in the thermostat housing (89659A 3). I have a mercruiser 3.7L alpha one (I/O)

The diagram shown within boats.net doesnt seem to be correct. There is a lip within the housing that prevents the thermostat to be placed properly in the housing. If I flip it around its okay.

Any help is appreciated!

They usually only fit in one way.
