I recently purchased a 1986 SportCraft 18 foot boat. \

It is equipped with a MerCruiser 4 cylinder inline 170 HP engine, 244 Cubic Inches. The lad who owned it before me took off the starting motor as it was defective. He was going to have it rebuilt, but could not find anyone in the area to rebuild it. He has since discarded the starter as someone told him that it was 'beyond repair'!

I am now in need of a starting motor for this engine.

My serial numbers are as follows:

Engine - A592217
Transom Assy - A602395
Drive Unit - A597596

If anyone can tell me where I might be able to purchase a starter for this motor, please let me know...... either new, rebuilt or used would be fine.
