3.0L Mercruiser need more HP

What Hp is this engine? I've heard there is a 3.0L and a 3.0LX. What is the difference? What can I do to get more HP? Is the 3.0 a 115HP, and the 3.0LX a 140HP? Can I convert to A LX get more HP or what can I do? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!
