I am having a slight problem that I am hoping that some of you can help me with, I have a Mercury20 HP Model 200 outboard and I am not sure what year model it is. I was told that the serial number could provide those details and was told two different places to look. I found a number on the intake manifold whch is 4957540, does this look like a serial number and if so can someone tell me what year model it is from this number?

If that is the serial number then it would be a 1978 model year. The serial should be transom bracket of motor.
