Default What does the green/red light mean on my 8 hp 4 stroke?

I recently flooded my 8 hp kicker at the boat launch (waiting for the wife) and couldn't start it, noticed fuel from the vent when I pumped the ball. Took it to the mech and he agreed, flooded, but the fuel from the vent was caused by the float being stuck. Suggested I dry it all out, try again and if no start take the carb apart and look for stuff in the bowl etc. Did all that and sure nuf started and runs now like normal...except the red light comes on when I pull start, and then goes off when its started, used to just have the green light all the time. I'm now trying to find out all meanings of the red and green lights?

Default Figured it out

Tis my blunder . I was working on the Merc and thinking about the Honda. The red pilot light is supposed to come on until the oil pressure is up then it turns off.

My Honda 9hp kicker's on my 22' Alumaweld, has the green light that comes on and stays on when operating correctly......My 8 hp Mercs on my 17' Whitewater.

My bad.......I was thinking too hard. And the helpful hints from Curotiy & Insulfuk wouldn't fair well at my launch . Sounds like you're quite the couple.....
