Default voltage regulator test

Can someone tell me how to test a voltage regulator on my 150? I need a new stator. My rectifier is bad also and I don't want to ruin anyu new parts by not testing others first. My system is not charging. The alternator side of the stator is ok. I'm thinking the rectifier is the problem, but I'd like to check the regulator too. The engine lacks power, and I'm down to the stator as the problem. It tests not to far out of the acceptable range, but its out none the less. Can someone also tell me if a little out is a problem or should I look elsewhere?

thanks , dusty

Depending on model. Check for resistance between red and yellow, then reverse meter leads. Should have continuity one way and no continuity when reverse leads.
Do same between each yellow wire and regulator case.
