Default Trim Gauge Installation

I have a 2004 Mercury outboard, 115 hp, 4 stroke, EFI, salt water version.
Model # 1115F13CD, Serial # OT903086. I purchased a trim gauge, not knowing that a sending device is required. Does this motor already have a sender. I read that Mercury uses a brown & white wire for this purpose. I found a brown wire with white tracer and a solid brown wire with terminal ends not connected to anything under the cowl. Do I connect these wires to the guage.

The trim sender is an accessory item and does not come on outboard. The part number is 821400A 2.
