Default tiller to console steering , 1998 25 Hp Merc

Can the tiller handle still be used for throttle and F-R-N if I add the console steering cable option. I have a CraigCat that uses a "stick" type steering with cable. The layout of the Craigcat allows me to use the tiller handle to for the throttle and F-N- R functions.

In other words ... does the throttle handle need to be disconnected or removed if I add cable steering.

The tiller handle would have to be removed to bolt on steering bracket 816667A 2.

Thumbs up

OK, thanks for the answer. I suspected this was the case but was not sure.

Do you have a used throttle/shift box for sale or ideas of where to find one used? I am not looking to put $2000 into the steering and throttle linkage ... only have $2000 in the boat motor and trailer.
