Switching engines

I have a question ~I have a 2006 Bentley 200 fish with a 2006 Mercury 9.9 hp 4 stroke engine. I want to switch it out with a 1994 Mercury 40 HP serial # OG004029. Can anyone tell me how difficult this is and what I may need?
I was wondering if the wiring harness is interchangable?
