Hello

I am new to the forum group. I'm looking for some help I think should be simple.

I pulled off a 1987 50HP Mercury Motor and replaced it with a 1987 25 HP Mercury motor. I was told the controls that were on my boat for the 50 hp would work fine. But when I hooked it up, I found the throttle pushes or pulls the opposite way than it did on the 50. So basically it slows when you throttle up to accelerate.

Can I change the set up (if so how?) or do I need different parts or new controls entirely?

Some control boxes can be converted but not sure which control box you have.
