I have a '94 Mercury 40hp tiller with electric start. At times when trolling, half throttle or full throttle a very weak steady beep comes out of the key/alarm speaker. If I turn off the motor and turn the key on the normal loud alarm goes off briefly then the steady beep continues. There is no rhyme or reason to when it starts or quits that I can figure out.
The water pump was replaced this spring and it pushes a strong cool stream of water, motor shaft feels cool to the touch and the oil reservoir tank is full.
Of course I can't get it to do it in my driveway. Any one have any suggestions? Thanks.

If you sure it's not overheating then it may have a bad alarm sensor(temp or oil level) or warning module.
