refitting 2000 50 hp 4 stroke with 2001 parts

I have already asked if my merc 50hp 4 stroke can be fitted for remote operation. No kits are made for this. But the 2001 engine can be fitted. Are there parts from the 2001 which could fit the 2000 which would then allow it to be made remote?
