the engine in reverse to drop the lower unit?
Any secrets with the shift lever?

2. 03 optimax 150 HP. proceedures to replace
water pump? start in reverse?

I have done several Yam's. Just don't want to do
the wrong thing and have problems.

You don't have to have it in reverse but it helps to reinstall lower unit if it is in reverse so you can turn prop to align drive shaft splines.
