Default Mercury 9.8 help

Where is the exhaust on a 9.8 / 110 merc and how can you tell if its clogged ? The motor idles very hard and I have tried to adjust the mix screw and didnt change much. Someone told me it may be an exhaust problem. Could this be true ? Also how can I tell if the carburetor needs a new kit and instructions on how to preform the link and synch ? Thanks for any help .....

Check compression and spark test. The exhaust goes out through prop, you can remove gearcase to check for blockage. Most common thing is bad gas and dirty carb, may need to remove and clean carb.

Default Sea Foam

Try sea foam fuel additive at the mfgr's recommended application rate. If this dosen't clear it up, rebuild the carb, then don't use fuel that contains ethanol. Are you sure she is hitting on both cylinders? It is wise to give the year of the motor as some problems are specific to certain years. I have seen sea-foam perform wonders, and I believe in the simplest cheapest first approach.
