Hello My 2003 25 hp 4 stroke will not idle, will not start, to start i need to to place tottle out of gear and forward to start high speed. will run from 4000 to 6000 rpm and then stall out under 3000. to start again same as stated. Only about 15 hours on engine since 2004.
The most common cause for that is dirty carbs, may need to remove and clean carbs. By what you said not sure if you are running engine at full throttle in gear or in neutral but you should not run engine wide open in neutral with no load on it.
