Default Merc 70 hp power tilt

How do you remove the power tilt/trim motor and pump from a 1988 70hp outboard (serial# OB275238). I removed the (2) hex bolts and tried pulling the unit out. Won't budge! What else is holding it in? Also where is the part # located. The motor is marked 38121 on tag on top. This number doesn't seem to match any Merc part #'s. Thanks for any help.

If the bottom is swinging loose, but the top is stuck, you have a double pin in the top assembly (top of the ram cylinder). It is pinned into place in the swivel bracket. You need a punch to punch the first pin out and then the 2nd pin, which is larger, punches out from the side on that model.

Default Pump motor

I have already removed the the entire tilt unit w/ piston from the motor transom mount. I now need to remove and replace the pump motor. I removed the two bolts (hex key) and the pump motor will not pull up and out. I believe it is attached to the hydrualic pump below that. Is there any other bolts or hardware holding it in? Thanks.

They usually come out by lightly bumping motor with rubber mallet.
