Default merc 40 4hp

i have an older mercury merc 40 4hp i changed the impeller and still no water comes out is there and if so where is the pee hole for a lack of better terms the hole where the water comes out. or does it just come out the exhaust hole because i have water spraying out of that but not alot when i pulled out the lower unit the pipe that is conected tho the water pump came out is it possible it just didnt go back in where its supossed to. help i need some help.

If water is coming out of the exhaust the the impeller is working, check to make sure your over board indicator hose is not clogged.

where is the overboard indicater hose located is that the inlet hose where the water comes in above the prop any help would be great i am a novice at boat motor repair i am however some what mechanically inclined.

also is water supossed to come out of the exshaust outlet or is there another location where it should come out.

As long as it's not a real old model there should be a tell-tale hose in engine cowling that has a stream of water coming out, usually on bottom right side of motor.
