Default lower unit conversion

I have worked on outboards since 1982 but I have never dealt with a counter rotating lower unit.My question is can you convert a standard rotation to counter on a late 70's early 80's inline 6 Mercury 115?

You would to change to a counter rotation gearcase and would have to change shift cable in control box to shift opposite direction of what it is.
