While running my 2001 Mercury 5HP, 2-stroke this weekend, the motor died. Using a spark plug tester I found I was not getting any power to the plug.

From the schematic I see 5 parts in the ignition system:
Exciter Coil,
CD Unit,
Pulser Coil,
Ignition Coil and
Emergency Stop.

I tested the emergency stop switch, and made sure all the wires had good clean connections. How can I test the rest of the components. I especially do not want to buy a CD Unit for over $200 if that is not the problem.
