I was given a mercury outboard 9.9M and I can not find any info on it. I have serial # but no model number and do not know if it is a 4 or 2 stroke. Any help? The year is 1996. The previous owner has not used it in 4 years and can not remember. Change sparks and want to fire up but need more info. Thanks.

You can post the serial number and we can try to identify, but the best thing is to take it to a local dealer for help to identify.
