Black Max - what year?

I have a Black Max that I was told it was an 85 when I bought it but someone told me it was a few years newer. I see A156648 on the motor.
What year is it and is it the XR-2 as I am looking to locate a starter or solenoid. I tried to start it and when I released the key it kept turning over and had to disconnect the battery

It is a 1985 model. Here is the parts listing Mercury Outboard Parts 1985 1150725
It could be a bad key switch or starter relay.
