Question '68-'74 Merc 500 simple wiring question

Hi.

I have a '68 merc 500 4 cyl 2 stroke engine. I swapped the distributor and all of the electronics and wiring, from what I believe is a '74 engine onto my '68.

There were a few differences, but I'm hoping this is gonna work.

The only wire(s) I'm not sure where to put are; The green wire coming from the botton of the.. ignition module?.. The box that is mounted to the front cover. There are 4 wires coming out of it. Red, Blue, and white are the top three, and they are close together. The 4th post at the bottom is the green wire.

It was chopped when I got the parts engine, so I'm not sure where it came from.

The other wire(on parts engine) that may not matter cause it seems out of place and it's chopped, is a red wire that is mounted to the front cover rubber mount post on the starter side. This wire probably doesn't matter cause, everything else is hooked up. The green wire is the only one that has no place to go.

I mentioned the red wire cause, the starter was missing from the parts engine. I was thinking maybe the green wire and red wire would go to the starter some how. But they are small wires. My starter('68 engine) only has the thick black ground cables. Maybe the '74 had a different style starter??

Anyway, any help with the green wire would be awesome.
