Unhappy 60 merc won't fire after boating??

Just got back from quick 1 1/2 hour boating, went to flush engine ,nothing. No fire to starter, nothing.Checked kill switch and engagement of neutral switch still no juice to starter .Did quick check to key switch, and 12.5 volts. Before I replace kill switch or play the electrical parts game(could be binacle neutralswitch too).Any comments and help,???? Then....Finished watching Nascar, came out after boat sat for 2 hours and fired right up.Boat is a Boston Whaler with dash breaker but breaker never went and don't know if it's connected to engine.Maybe bad key switch????

Both switch box and stator were fried! Be carefull not to replace one without ding a complete check.Previous owner simply replaced stator.

Sounds like sticking neutral safety switch or dirty connections at battery.
