1993 5 HP two stroke that won't idle. It starts fine but stalls as soon as you try to put it in gear or after idling for 3-4 seconds. It will idle with 1/2 choke and you can put it in gear and once you throttle up and push in the choke it runs fine. As soon as you throttle down to idle it will stall unless you pull out 1/2 choke. Seems to be running too lean but I have followed the instructions in the manual for adjusting slow idle. Any suggestions? Only service in 17 years has been plug changes, fuel filter changes and an occasional resealing of the lower unit when water pump was changed.

I think in the manual there it would be given how to adjust the idle.I cant make out why such problem is coming.

time to rebuild the carb
