I need some help troubleshooting my 99 merc 90 2 stroke. I have had a problem the last couple of times out with my motor just suddenly shutting off on me and won't restart. I play with the kill switch and everything and then after about 5 min or so winding the starter it finally starts and no more problems. It operates normally.. I have had this happen just a couple of times lately and it worries me that i might get stranded somewhere. I changed my fuel separator and it happened again... any ideas on what to look for?

I assume you are not getting a high temp or low oil alarm. I had a friend with a simular problem for years, it ended up being metal filing in the gas tank cloging the up taken.
