Default 1998 90 ELPTO water pump

I replaced the impeller and gaskets on my 90 yesterday and noticed that it did not have the "seal" that slides on the drive shaft after the pump housing. I bought this outboard new in 2000 and this is the first time the pump has been changed. There is no evidence there ever was a rubber seal, wear marks etc. Question now is I moved to the coast and will be operating this motor in salt and brackish water is this going to be an issue? I can't find the part listed other than in a generic manual.

No that motor doesn't have a seal on top of water pump housing.
