Default 1994 200 Hp, warning horn.

Hello to all. I've got 94 200 hp merc. I recently changed both voltage regulators because the output voltage was over 16vdc. I checked the stator as per the Merc manual and that checked out ok.
Now, I've got another problem. After installing new regulators, I turned the keyswitch to the on position, and got a steady warning horn. Also, I previously disabled the oil system on the engine bacause of a worn drive behind the pump. Anyway as far as the steady horn, I disconnected the wire coming from the temp sensor and still had the warning horn. My question, is it possible that the high voltage condition caused the warning module to go bad? Also, is there any other test I can do to help resolve this issue. All help is appreciated. Thanks, RFAV21

The warning do go bad for no reason at all so high voltage may not have had any affect on it.
