I'm attempting to identify a prop shaft for my 1988 25hp. My correct part number is 816623 1. I purchased a shaft but the slot for the clutch pin is wider than the slot in the original shaft. The splines for the clutch are also slightly shorter than the original. The overall shaft dimensions are the same. I'm having difficulty keeping the clutch spring in place due to the wider slot. Could the replacement prop shaft be a new design? Any help would be appreciated!
