I am new to this forum, having been recommended by an online parts seller. I have a 4 hp Mercury "Gnat" 40 that has been in my garage for 20+ years without seeing any use. It has been suggested to me that at the very least I should rebuild the water pump, rebuild the carbeurator, and replace the fuel pump. Can anyone affirm these suggested repairs? Add to the list? My memory serves that the motor ran strong before life got in the way!

Yes all those repairs should be done before starting it, also double the oil mixture in first tank of gas.
